Pressure & Service Considerations
Working pressure depends on tube outside diameter, wall thickness, material, temperature and service conditions. The values above are reference working pressures for selected tubing sizes and should not be interpreted as the pressure rating of the complete assembled system.
For elevated-temperature service, allowable working pressure may require derating. Gas service also requires additional consideration when selecting tube wall thickness.
The allowable pressure of a complete fluid system should be determined by its lowest-rated component and the applicable system design requirements.
Tubing for Instrumentation Fittings
Correct tubing selection is important for reliable compression tube fitting performance.
Tube outside diameter, wall thickness, material condition, dimensional tolerance and surface condition should be compatible with the fitting and operating requirements. Fully annealed stainless steel tubing provides the material condition commonly required for proper ferrule interaction during tube fitting installation.
Tubing should be free from significant surface defects that could interfere with fitting sealing or gripping performance.
Typical Applications
- Pressure and flow measurement systems
- Analyzer and sampling systems
